Remove the printer object

  1. Apple menu > System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Select your Samsung printer in the list, and click the button to remove it.

Reset/ clears all (optional)

In Printers & Scanners, right-click inside the printers list and choose Reset printing system. It will remove all printers/queues and clear drivers (useful if a driver is stuck).

Note: you’ll need to re-add other printers afterwards.

Manual cleanup (advanced)

If you want to remove driver files installed by the package:

  1. Check and remove Samsung/HP printer folders in /Library/Printers/ and /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/ (look for files/PPDs named with Samsung or CLP-320N).
  2. Remove any Samsung preference panes in /Library/PreferencePanes/.
  3. Also, look for Samsung apps in /Applications and delete.
  4. Restart your Mac after deletion is completed.

Caution: Deleting system files requires admin rights; remove only files you recognize. If uncomfortable, use Reset printing system instead (safer).

Connect Samsung CLP-320N to LAN on Mac

These are the recommended approaches. Your Samsung printer needs to be physically connected to the LAN by Ethernet connectivity.

Wired LAN (Ethernet)

  1. Plug an Ethernet cable from your router/switch to the CLP-320N’s Ethernet port. Turn printer ON.
  2. By default, the printer requests an IP address from DHCP. Most routers will assign one automatically. Print a Network Configuration from your printer to see the assigned IP address.

Set a static IP address

  1. Reserve in your router (DHCP reservation):
    • In your router’s admin interface, reserve the printer’s MAC address to always get the same IP address. This keeps your printer on the same IP address without changing anything on your printer.
  2. Set IP address on Samsung printer:
    • Your Samsung printer manual explains two ways: using the printer control panel (some models allow Ethernet/static IP configuration), or using SetIP utility (Download from table below). The SetIP app lets you set IPv4 addresses from your Mac. If you use SetIP, temporarily disable the Mac firewall instructions (manual) before running the app.
  3. Embedded Web Server (EWS):
    • Once the printer has an IP address, open a browser on your Mac and type the printer’s IP address in the address bar. Then, if your printer supports EWS, you’ll get a config webpage to set networking (many Samsung/HP network printers provide EWS).

Add the printer to Mac by IP address

  • After confirming IP address, follow “Add a printer” > IP method in Printers & Scanners, fill Address (printer IP), Protocol HP Jetdirect - Socket, and pick the appropriate driver.

Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q)

Where do I download Samsung printer driver for Mac?

Use the HP support website series support page or Apple support. If macOS offers a driver automatically, that often works too.

What do I need to check if macOS can’t find the printer on the network?

Verify Ethernet cable + power, print a Network Configuration Report (printer menu) to confirm the IP address, ensure your Mac and printer are on the same subnet, and try adding by IP address in Printers & Scanners. If your IP address is 169.254.xxx.xxx, the printer did not get DHCP, try setting a static IP address or use DHCP reservation on your router.

Installer shows driver is not compatible with macOS versions (Big Sur, Monterey, Ventura, Sonoma, Sequoia, Tahoe, etc.)

The Samsung CLP-320N is an older model. Try Apple’s Samsung Printer Drivers package (Apple sometimes provides compatible driver versions). If the supplied driver is too old for very new macOS, try adding the Samsung printer using a Generic PostScript or Generic PCL driver. If problems persist, the community forum threads show workarounds (some older Samsung drivers still work).

How do I print a network configuration report?

The user manual shows how to print reports from the printer control panel. That report contains IP address, MAC address, and network settings, which are useful for adding by IP address using SetIP app. See the official manual (network chapter).

Can I use SetIP app on Mac to change the printer IP address?

Yes, you need to download SetIP app from HP official website, or you can download it from the table on this page. You need to disable the firewall temporarily while running it. Alternatively, set IP address using EWS or via router DHCP reservation.
